Here on Bluebird Farm we are all so excited that Spring is finally here in Virginia but along with Spring showers comes muddy little piglet ponies! They're not actually piglet ponies they are horses after all. We don't have any little piglets here on Bluebird Farm but who needs little piglets anyway when you have horses that just love to roll in fresh mud puddles. After the horses finally dried off, I got the pleasure of brushing them. You should have seen the huge cloud of dust I had to stand in to get them all cleaned up. Life on a farm is a dirty job and I guess someone has to do he cleaning up around here. Let's hope they can stay out of the mud for a little while.

The Muddy Horses of Bluebird Farm

This is was my 10 year old Appaloosa Montana the other day. He is always the worst when it comes to rolling in the mud. I think he rolls in it, lets the mud dry, and then he rolls in it again just to see if I will brush him.

Here was my 30 year old mare Reiny after the Spring showers the other day. She wasn't as bad as Montana was and every extra day I get to brush her is a gift from God so I will never ever complain about her rolling in the mud. I am just so glad she can still roll in the mud and actually get back up afterwards. She is my retired Champion Barrel Racer. She is by far the most fabulous horse a girl could ever ask for in life.

She has the biggest heart in the Universe!

Enjoying an early Sunrise with the dogs.

With the warm temps in the 70's and 80's all through March, our pastures and lawns are exploding with beautiful long green grass. We have never had to mow in March before. Check out these photos from Wednesday morning while Chris my husband was hanging out with our four dogs in the front yard. Everything is so green!

Look at Nitro giving his daddy some morning loving. So sweet.

Another afternoon at the City of Salem Rotary Dog Park

This is Armani the Great Dane. He is just a big old sweet ham!

Nitro hasn't seen Armani in a few months and he used to play and rough house with him but for some reason he just wasn't sure about him this time.

I think this dog's name is Goober. He is the coolest Pit Bull. I just love his personality.

Here is Goober playing in the big cement tube with Mendelson the other Pitty boy. They are both such fun dogs.

"What's up?" "I smell bacon, bacon, bacon."

Nitro finally found a fun little spaniel mix to play and chase at the park. Look at his happy little face!

He has such a funny expression on his face in this shot. He is having so much fun with this pup.

Such a handsome boy!

According to my dogs Lexi, Nitro, Bailey and Tallulah, they hope you get your dogs out and about this weekend and have some fun. Happy Tails!

Saturday Pet Blogger Hop - Spring Has Sprung!

Lexi, Nitro, Tallulah, Bailey, and I are excited to participate in this weeks Saturday Pet Blogger Hop. Special thanks goes out to our Pet Blog Hop hosts, Life With DogsTwo Little Cavaliers, and Confessions of the Plume! If you would like to read some entertaining pet blogger posts in the Saturday Pet Blogger Hop, just click on one of the host links above or click on the purple Pet Blogger Hop button on the right side of our homepage.

I finally had some time to go out and about with my deaf dog Nitro and shoot some photos around town to catch some "Spring Has Sprung" shots. The following photo gallery is a mix of photos from Nitro and I going to the dog park, going downtown, Bluebird Farm, and the last set of shots is with us coming home to set up the doggy pool. I never thought we would be setting up the doggy pool in March because it is usually to chilly to go swimming. However, for the past couple of week the temps have been in the low 80's here so we thought it would be the perfect time to have some fun in the sun.

I hope you enjoy our little photo gallery from our world. Have an awesome weekend and thanks for stopping by on the Saturday Pet Blogger Hop!  Lexi, Tallulah, Nitro, Bailey and Christina

A Spring Sunrise on Bluebird Farm

Here is a photo of Lexi getting ready to go to work with her daddy. She goes to Roanoke College everyday (for the past 10 years) to hang out with her daddy and visit with his students. Look at the way she looks at her daddy. She adores him and why not, he is pretty handsome and he spoils her rotten.

This is our "Welcome Friends" sign on our front porch as the sunlight reflects off the house first thing in the morning.

My sweet Tallulah doing her "business" outside first thing in the morning. She has the face of an angel!

This is a shot of the house at sunrise as I was walking up the driveway after taking some photos. So pretty!

Nitro Playing With Trixie at the Salem Dog Park

This week was the first week Nitro and I started going to the Salem Rotary dog park in the morning before it got to hot by noon. The following photos are of Nitro having a morning play date with his friend Trixie at the dog park.

Spring Has Sprung In Salem!

Spring has sprung, the grass has ris’,
I wonder where the birdie is?

There he is up in the sky,
He dropped some whitewash in my eye!

                                           I‘m alright, I won't cry,
I'm just glad that cows can't fly!

The following photos were taking around Salem, Virginia on Wednesday of this week. Spring is finally here in Salem, Virginia and I could not be happier!

The White Bradford Pear Trees have bloomed all over town. Everything is white and green!

This is a photo taken of Main Street in Salem and across the street is our Salem Farmer's Market which will be busy in just a few weeks.

The Cumulus clouds were absolutely stunning this week with the high temps in the region moving in huge masses of clouds over the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Check out the layers of Cumulus clouds over the mountains.

This is the Roanoke College President's residence. Isn't it just beautiful? I love all the landscaping and flowers in the Spring.

 Flowers...flowers...flowers everywhere!

It's time for me to go shopping to fill in the empty areas of my garden with colorful flowers. I love SPRING!

 Bright colors in every direction!

These are the bulbs I planted last year and they are all blooming this week. I love my beautiful tulips!

Sunset on Bluebird Farm

The next 5 photos are from the most beautiful sunset on Wednesday evening here on the farm. I was shooting the sun going behind the big dark storm clouds down near the barn. Our horses were starting to show up at the barn for their nightly feeding. The photo of Nitro barking at me is when he was standing behind me on the upper back deck trying to get my attention (while I was trying to take pictures). Deaf dogs have a very unique bark when they try to get someone's attention. It can be very loud but also has a special sound that I love because it is his very own unique sound. He can be very bossy with me sometimes because he is usually with me 24/7.
Meet Montana my 7 year old Appaloosa gelding.

Here is my Montana with my 12 year old Quarter Horse Skippy watching me take pictures and probably wondering why I was just standing there up on the hill instead of down in the barn getting them dinner.

 Bossy...bossy...bossy....

Dark storm clouds moving in while the sun was setting. So amazing!

Pool Day!

Today was Pool Day here on Bluebird Farm. What that means, is it is time to break out Nitro's doggy pool for him to splash around in and have some fun. In the following photos he is trying to help our little dog Tallulah get her ball out of the freezing cold well water in the pool. She finally went in the pool but for only 30 seconds because the water was so cold. Nitro sure had fun teasing her by pushing around the ball she wanted. He likes to entertain himself at her expense...he is such a boy! It was 83 degrees when I broke out the pool and took these photos. I love Spring....have I mentioned how much I love Spring?

Burrrrr...maybe this isn't so bad after all...it tastes good...

 Snuggle...snuggle...

She is like "come on dude...pick the ball up and give it to me!"

She is seriously considering going in again after that darn old ball.

 Party animal!

He is really a surfer dude...

Look at Nitro looking at me as if to say "thank you mommy for making today pool day"...such a sweet boy!

 WhaaaHoooo!

Have a great weekend!                 THE END
