Our Heart Dog - Lexi Lee - 2000-2015

It is with a heavy heart I share the news with all of you that our sweet dog Lexi died last week after she suffered a heart attack. We will miss her so much and we loved her with all of our hearts. All of our five other dogs totally adored her and I know they are missing her now.

My husband and all of his students at Roanoke College will be missing the "Math Dept" mascot. From 8 weeks of age Lexi got to go to work with her daddy at Roanoke College. She was the official mascot of the Math Department. Lexi also had a second "work mommy" Laura at work who I know is just heart broken because she did not get to say goodbye and she loved Lexi as if she was her own.

We will miss my beautiful girl. She leaves behind her mommy and daddy Chris and Christina Lee. She also leaves behind her fur brothers and sisters. Deaf dogs Nitro and Bud. Bailey, Tallulah and Pepe are heartbroken their little girl is gone. We love you Lexi girl and pray we will all be together again some day in the future. God willing...

Happy 14th Birthday Miss Lexi!

Can you believe Miss Lexi turned 14 today! She has been going to work with her daddy now for 14 years. Everyday she goes to Roanoke College and hangs out in her daddy's office. She has a second "office mommy" at school who baked her a cake today. She is such a sweet and loving dog and I feel so blessed she has been with me for 14 years! Happy Birthday Lexi!

Tallulah: "Hahahaha you are 10 years older then me!"

We saved a little one from the GAS CHAMBER!

Meet Fiona Apple! She was saved by our Advocacy group Deaf Dogs Rock last week and this week she is spending some time here at the farm because her new foster family is right up the road. She is a Deaf 10-14 month old dalmatian/pointer mix. Here are a few shots of her before her Intake at Angles of Assisi Rescue in Roanoke, VA. She has a lot of puppy energy and she loves to run. She will need a home with someone willing to continue her training, have a secure fenced yard, love her and keep her safe at all times. If you are interested in adopting Fiona you can go to Angles of Assisi's website and fill out an adoption application.

 Doesn't Fiona have AWESOME ears?

My husband Chris drove to Raleigh to meet her transport to get her to safety.

She truly is just the sweetest deafie ever!

She loves playing with my deaf boxer Bud!

Fiona and I getting ready to head over to Angels of Assisi for her Intake appointment.

This is Fiona's foster mom Kim who also has a deaf Chi mix dog at home.

 Silly dogs!

Over the last couple of weeks I have tried to get some fall photos of my dogs and some of my friends and their dogs before the colors are gone. Well now the Fall colors are fading fast so I am so glad I took the time to have some fun with my camera.

Here are just a few of my Fall photos!

According to my dog Lexi, Fall totally ROCKS!

Tallulah loves her front field and she loves to run loose. Such a good dog!

My sweet Tallulah and her ball. She loves her ball..ball...ball...ball... Did I mention she loves her ball?

My sweet Nitro posing for another fall photo.

Can't forget this fall photo of my horse Montana. The sun was setting and the lighting was perfect!

Our friend Sharon stopped in with her husband Ben and their wonderful dog Oliver. Bud, Nitro and Oliver had a ball playing and chasing each other.

Oliver and Bud taking a break.

My handsome dog Nitro...such a poser!

Four out of five of my dogs playing in their very own dog park here on Bluebird Farm.

Fun photo shoot with the Custer Family and their dogs.

This was the first time their big Great Dane had ever seen a horse!

My friend Rebecca came out with her beautiful family and her dogs and we had some fun taking some Fall Family photos for their family.

Deaf Rescue Dog Ali'itoa

I have been working with a deaf rescue dog down at Angels of Assisi Rescue named Ali'itoa. I taught him how to loose leash walk, sit and wait. The wait sign is very important to teach a deaf dog because it teaches them when the see the "wait" sign to freeze. This command keeps them from rushing out the door or into traffic. It also keeps them from moving when I am trying to get a good head shot. This is only his third day knowing the "wait" sign and he was so awesome!

My handsome deaf dog Bud!

 More photos of Ali'itoa

This little sweetie is up for adoption at Angels of Assisi Rescue here in Roanoke, VA. Check the pup out, he/she smiled when I pointed the camera at him.

Nitro downtown sporting his Ella's collar and lead!

This is my favorite fall photo of Nitro. It was taken last year but I love it so I am sharing it again! We did not have the bright fall colors this year like we did last year.

Handsome Bud. He has really filled out. The first six month here on the farm he was very skinny and he was a very picky eater. Now we crock pot chicken and veggies for our dogs and they have all filled out nicely.

On to the cold weather. I hope you enjoy our fall photos!

Shutter Huggers

I saw a cool product on the Ellen Show called the Shutter Hugger so I ordered one to try it out on my camera while photographing my dogs. I highly recommend this product because as you can see from the photos below it totally captured (my hard to capture) my dog's attention. These cool little camera creatures only cost between 15.99 and 19.99!

I could tell both my little dog Tallulah and my white boxer Bud would love to eat my bunny Shutter Hugger so it is very important for me to take it off the camera lens and put it away that is if I ever want the bunny around to shoot photos on another day.

Usually I can never get Bud to look directly at the camera!

See how focused he is on my Bunny Shutter Hugger?

I think this is the first time I have ever gotten my dog Bailey to look up at me while photographing her!

Check out my little dog Tallulah. She wanted to eat that bunny! She was very focused!

                                                                     Two peas and a pod!

Such a happy little girl Miss Tallulah is in this photo!

I love this shot of Lexi because you can see my reflection in her pretty eyes!

Such a pretty girl. Lexi is now 13 years old!

Lexi looks like a puppy in this photo! Such a good girl.

                                                               My little love bug Tallulah!

                                                                             Silly GOOSE!

This is a funny photo because Nitro was shaking his head and he looks like a Monster in this photo! LOL!

I can't believe how green the grass is for late October!

                                                               Bud loves to eat grass!

                                                                       Great Fall shot!

My big model boy Nitro. What a hunk!

Bud wasn't sure about the Pumpkin at first. He barked at it for the first five minutes or so.

According to my dog Lexi, the Shutter Hugger TOTALLY ROCKS!  If you would like to try out a Shutter Hugger you can order one by clicking here.

Happy Blogging! ~ Christina, Lexi, Tallulah, Nitro, Bailey and Bud
